Fernando Madera is an illustrator but his background is design and fine arts.
He works with various acrylic inks on paper and on wood. He also draws on unconventional surfaces or objects. In his design process he works both digitally and by hand, but primarily his ideas come out of sketches, mostly made on location.
Linework, honest impressions and texture are the highlights of his work.
His affinity for Japanese paper has to do with its translucent properties and how this complements the meaning of the pieces.
